DESCRIPTION:

The year is 2012 and the dead have risen as mindless shambling Zombies, feasting on human flesh whenever they can get hold of the living. Academics debate the cause of this global 'reviving' but are unable to agree on an exact reason for this illogical turn of events. As civilisation crumbles under the weight of the walking dead, a small number of living humans take shelter in a rural house in the Welsh countryside, oblivious to the fact that the true horror came long before the dead returned to life.

MY VERDICT:

This low-budget remake / spin-off of the classic Night of the Living Dead is actually a pretty decent reimagining of George Romero's original. Like all above-average Zombie dramas, the living dead are more of a background horror, the locked-up inhabitants and their decreasingly hospitable relationships are the main focus. That being said, the plotline is not very original, the extreme low-budget nature of the film is very clear and the acting is less than exceptional. However, given this movie is heavily based on a low-budget movie anyway, these few drawbacks are forgivable – a high-end remake would lose some of the original's magic. So it is definitely worth watching Night of the Living Dead: Resurrection thanks to the avoidance of simple 'shoot dead people' nonsense, just don't expect a jaw-dropping experience.
