2021 has begun and it has many sights to show you. Over the last three weeks, I have been chronicling the deadliest of undead monstrosities that lie among them. In this final part, the unmentionable horrors that do not fit into any other category are exhumed.
The bloated forms of these abominations often get stuck within their too small coffins, making them emerge into the land of the living much later than planned. These misshapen beasts are listed in the MIA section at the end of this most fiendish of articles.

Yes folks, in news that probably everyone saw coming, The Dead Times website is not going anywhere. Updates, movie reviews, video game reviews, videos, articles and more will be coming your way throughout the new year.
The Walking Dead, the TV show that introduced millions to the eternal glory of Zombies, is coming to a close in 2022. However, things have got a bit confusing - thanks mainly to that dreaded real-world virus that shall not be named. Back in 2020, the final episode of season 10 was delayed until October. A surprise announcement then followed that, despite season 10's finale still being the finale of the season, six additional episodes that extend season 10 are to be aired in early 2021. Presumably these extra episodes were originally filmed to be the first half of season 11, before the creators came to the decision that season 11 would be the final ever series.
After the extended season 10 concludes, we are in for the start of season 11 - the last ever series of The Walking Dead. it'll be an extra-long series of 24 episodes and will take us right up to the thrilling climax of the long-running show in 2022. It may be the conclusion to the main show but countless spin-offs are in the works (some are already here) and we have three The Walking Dead movies to look forward to so TWD-fans can still get their regular dose of dead.

Detail on this animated series based on Capcom's legendary Resident Evil video games is scarce. It stars Resident Evil 2 favourites, Leon S. Kennedy and Claire Redfield. It is also said to be 'canon' meaning that all action will be official within the timeline defined by the game series.
This is a bit of a controversial one because the Romero Estate never officially gave permission for Syfy to make a 10-episode series, set in the world of Day of the Dead, a world that George A. Romero invented. Still, that minor inconvenience has not stopped Syfy pushing ahead with its creative vision for the show which will see six strangers struggle to survive in the first 24-hours of the Zombie apocalypse. A host of actors have already been brought on board so there is no reason to think that this scary story will fail to meet its planned 2021 release date.

One of the many spin-offs to the main The Walking Dead series that continues going strong is Fear the Walking Dead. No details have emerged about what season 7 will contain or exactly when it will air. Some fans are calling for this to be the last ever season so it can end on a high, coming to a close around the same time as the main show - whether it will be, is in the court of series producer, AMC.
Another spin-off from The Walking Dead continues and, since World Beyond is a limited two-season event, draws to a close.
This one has not yet been confirmed by Netflix but with the jaw-dropping ratings of seasons 1 and 2, this Korean Zombie series is almost guaranteed to get a third season.
Zack Snyder's upcoming Netflix movie Army of the Dead is getting a book detailing how the film was made. It's likely to be pretty interesting too as Zack Snyder directed the epic remake of George A. Romero's classic Dawn of the Dead.
Netflix's Zombie show Black Summer is returning for a second season. In fact, if the insidious virus we all hate had not overrun the entire globe, the show would probably be airing already.
We did get a synopsis of the long awaited Resident Evil TV show in 2020 but it was far from encouraging. There will be two timelines. The first takes place before the events of any of the RE games and sees two teenage daughters become increasingly suspicious about what their father is working on. The second timeline fast-forwards to events after the games where the entire world is overrun by undead and other monsters. The two grown-up sisters now fight to stay alive in a world beyond hope at the same time as struggling with their dark past. No cast have yet been announced and the plot so far sounds very vague, giving me reason to believe a slip into next year may be on the cards.
2020 saw all Castle Horror events put on hold for obvious reasons. However, rest assured that the team will be back to scare you to death in 2021, assuming that blasted viral curse goes away.
Will 2021 be the fabled year the merciless undead rise from their graves to devour the flesh of the living? I don't know about that but I do know that this third, and final, part of the 'Preview of the Dead' article series plunges into the sticky goodness of all remaining Zombie projects for this year.
